The man who fought back against all three of the London terrorists

Hero Millwall fan 'charged' at terrorists to protect others during London Bridge attack

Instead of running in fear, Larner said he turned to them and started shouting right back while evoking the name of his beloved soccer team, the Millwall Football Club, which has a history of hooliganism among some fans.

That's a reference to the soccer team he supports, Millwall F.C., the south London club who now play in the second-tier Championship division of English soccer.

"Yesterday when the terrorist attacked he went an stuck it to them and save a persons life, but in doing so got stabbed five times in the head, neck, back, front and cut all his fingers and at present is in intensive care!"

"Roy Larner charged at the terrorists on London Bridge to try and stop them and help others escape, he ended up getting himself stabbed multiple times", the Change.org petition reads.

Millwall fans have a worldwide reputation for toughness and intimidation, cemented in popular culture by films such as Football Factory and Green Street.

Before he actually stepped into the path of the attackers, Larner made sure they knew he was affiliated with the notoriously rough and tumble South London club. "I thought, 'I need to take the p*** out of these b*****s'". Everyone else ran to the back. "There was blood everywhere", he said, while sharing that doctors estimate he'll remain hospitalized for the next week.

When the three men arrived, who have now all been named, they reportedly chanted "Islam".

Roy claimed he shouted it a second time, and described it as "the worst thing" he could have done as they carried on attacking him.

Roy, who recently watched his Millwall side win promotion from League One to the Championship at Wembley in the play-offs, said he "just did what I had to do".

"Luckily, none of the blows were straight at me or I'd be dead".

Friends visited him in the hospital with an issue of sports magazine "Runner's World" entitled 'Learn to Run'.

"It wasn't until I was in a police vehicle", said Mr Larner, "That I realised I was in a bad way".

A petition has also been set up to award Larner the George Cross, the highest civilian award for "acts of the greatest heroism and bravery in circumstances of extreme danger".
