USA stocks closed at records for a second straight session on Friday as tepid jobs growth in May highlighted the possibility that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates just one more time this year rather than the widely expected two.

The Dow Jones was tipped to rise 61 points to 21,205 and the S&P 500 was seen opening 5 points to 2,435.

The Nasdaq jumped 58.97 (+0.94 percent) to close at 6,305.80 while the S&P 500 finished at 2,439.07, up 9.01 (+0.37 percent) from its open.

Eight of the 11 major S&P sectors were higher, with the industrial .SPLRCI and healthcare .SPXHC sectors leading the gainers. "But it's just one data point that will not change the Fed's course, which is to raise rates at its June meeting", said Michael Antonelli, equity sales trader at Robert W. Baird & Co.

The Nasdaq composite outperformed, rising 0.2 percent to reach an all-time high.

"It's hard to ignore the the USA economy added fewer jobs than expected and, more importantly, the number came in below the 12-month average of 181,000", said Sharon Stark, managing director of fixed income strategies at Incapital. However, the unemployment rate ticked down to its lowest level since 2001. Economists had expected 178,000 jobs in May. The chances of a 25-basis-point increase to the federal funds rate when the FOMC meets in June held at 90%, according to CME Group fed funds futures. Meanwhile, the dollar weakened against other major currencies, with the ICE U.S. Dollar index down 0.4% at 96.851.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was flat after four sessions of losses as investors took profits after stocks hit a two-year high last week and as economic and geopolitical concerns continued to weigh on sentiment.

Overnight, Wall Street closed slightly lower as financials lost ground after JPMorgan and Bank of America warned of revenue weakness in the current quarter, but gains in defensive plays offset the decline.

Hovnanian Enterprises (HOV) and ReneSola (SOL) will report earnings.

Shares of RH Inc.(RH) sank 22% in premarket trading.
