Can Megyn Kelly compete with '60 Minutes'?

When she addressed her co-hosts back in NY, she acknowledged both Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie, but forgot to greet Kotb. I would not flatter myself to presume that they got Oprah to complete with me.

Viewers have known that Kelly, 46, is cool under pressure ever since her combative exchange with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at the first Republican primary debate in August 2015, when the real estate mogul's candidacy still wasn't taken all that seriously by pundits and political pros. She will be interviewing Vladimir Putin on her very first show, which is sure to perform well in the ratings department both for Kelly and for the network.

Outside of "60 Minutes", most episodes of current network newsmagazines such as CBS' "48 Hours" and NBC's "Dateline" are devoted to true-crime stories. I think people will go on an emotional journey. "They may feel outrage at times, but they're also going to feel inspired, and I know they're going to have the chills, and tears, because I've experienced that already in the interviews that we have shot".

But Kelly faces a hard challenge. With the tabloids relentlessly trying to create friction between Kelly, Matt Lauer, and Savannah Guthrie, Kelly can do nothing more but laugh at it and move on - something that she says Guthrie actually talked to her about. But our sources tell us that the talk of feuds is largely untrue. "We may get to that". I think she's going to be great.

The fact remains that there's a huge weight on Kelly's shoulders.

Kelly went on to speak about her plans to moderate the World Economic Forum.

Now, she and Lauer look pretty close and were even caught having a private dinner, just the two of them, without any of the other cast members. Let us know your take in the comments section below! If she does not yield the numbers NBC expects, then the balance of power among hosts could quickly even out. Some of the footage will be shown on "Sunday Night" and the news division is still hoping for a one-on-one interview with Putin while Kelly is in Russian Federation.
