Chelsea keen on Bakayoko, Matic may leave

Jose Mourinho is confident of landing Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko ahead of Chelsea

And The Sun says that will pave the way for Chelsea to sign Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko in a £42m deal.

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic wants to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, according to reports.

The Blues manager is desperate to strengthen his midfield in order to compete on multiple fronts next season and Bakayoko could be the flawless partner for N'Golo Kante. However, the transfer was blocked by Antonio Conte. The Manchester Evening News claim that Matic is once again on the list of players being targeted, and now the player wants a reunion with the former Chelsea boss.

Conte has just led Chelsea to their fifth Premier League title in his first season in charge but the Italian coach knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if the Blues are to challenge on all fronts next season.

It appeared in March as if Chelsea were about to reward Matic with a new contract but there has still been no announcement regarding an extension to his current deal, which expires in 2019.

If so, the French global will form an exciting partnership alongside compatriot N'Golo Kante in the middle of the park but Bakayoko's arrival will cast doubt over the future of Matic.

The Independent say it would mean Matic's opportunities would be limited next season and could encourage United to make a bid.

MEN report that Matic has already held discussions with Man United over the possibility of making the move to Old Trafford, but the deal will only materialise if Ed Woodward is able to agree a fee with the Premier League champions.

Nemanja Matic lifts the title with Chelsea.
