Nick Kyrgios' double hot-dog against Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is out of the Acapulco Open after suffering a straight-sets defeat to Nick Kyrgios at the quarter-final stage.

Later Thursday night, sixth-seeded Nick Kyrgios of Australia knocked out Djokovic 7-6 (9), 7-5.

The 21-year-old Australian hammered down 25 aces to Djokovic's two but showed his full range of skills in one of the most complete performances of his career.

Kyrgios fired unbelievable 25 aces in the match to edge past 12-time grand slam victor Djokovic.

In the second semifinal, second seed Spaniard Rafael Nadal will battle third seed Croatian Marin Cilic.

American Sam Querrey needed nearly two hours to overcome Kyle Edmund 6-2 4-6 6-3.

Sela confronted Kyrgios moments later when leaving the court and a heated exchange followed, with a match official intervening in an attempt to calm the two players down. Now, Kyrgios has a chance at a fourth in Acapulco.

According to BBC Sport, the match between Krygios and Djokovic lasted for one hour and 47 minutes.

A very curt Djokovic spoke to the media after his defeat, that saw him suffer just one service break but it came at the worst time, while serving to stay in the match at 5-6 in the second set.

Djokovic seemed out of sorts, going down 0-40 in the last game, before a powerful Kyrgios forehand settled the match. The Serbian star is nursing an aching right shoulder injury and has not played since a four-set Davis Cup win over Russia's Daniil Medvedev on February 3.

A two-time champion at the tournament, Nadal holds a 13-0 win-loss record in Acapulco.

Earlier, Rafael Nadal continued his strong form dismissing qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka 7-6 (2), 6-3.
