Vic Mensa Joins #NoDAPL Protest: 'This Is All Of Our Battle'

Wildfires in Tennessee Force Evacuations

State officials issued an order on Monday for activists to vacate the Oceti Sakowin camp, located on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land near Cannon Ball, North Dakota, citing harsh weather conditions.

They're calling for the business to be denied its building permits for the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) in North Dakota by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

"Unfortunately, it is apparent that more unsafe groups have joined this protest and are provoking conflict in spite of the public pleas from tribal leaders", said Col. John Henderson, the commander of the corps' Omaha district.

Opponents of the four-state, $3.8 billion pipeline are concerned over the plan to bore under the Missouri River less than a mile from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's reservation boundary.

Vic Mensa traveled to North Dakota to stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and their peaceful protest to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) from being built underneath their water supply.

The Governor's office said a press release that Dalrymple and other state officials have remained in regular contact with tribal officials and protest camp leaders.

"We are not claiming we have any special authority to do anything unusual", said Gov. Dalrymple.

The group is concerned that the Dakota Access Pipeline could affect the drinking water for millions of people. Federal officials said anyone found on the land after December 5 could be charged with trespassing.

"A federal decision on the project's easement is long overdue", Dalrymple said in a statement. Dalrymple says he is not aware of an offer and it's unclear whether the state could legally accept it.

A spokeswoman for the local sheriff's department said enforcement of the governor's order will be "passive in nature" and no roadblock will be set up.

Controversies over military construction near San Diego and a wind project in Ocotillo show that these issues also play out close to home, she added.

An employee who answered the phone at the Ace Hardware in nearby Bismarck said Thursday that the store had not received anything from corporate headquarters suggesting a ban on selling to demonstrators.

One Facebook user who attempted to buy items off the registry said it appeared only certain, and perhaps crucial, items were being blocked.
