Ryanair launches package holiday service

Ryanair has launched a package holiday service to take on tour operators such as TUI by offering flights with accommodation and transfers bundled together for the first time declaring that it wants to become the Amazon of travel

Ryanair announced their new holiday package today.

Ryanair has launched a package holiday service, taking on rivals such as Germany's TUI by offering flights packaged with accommodation and transfers for the first time. "Everyone is going for the same ball in the middle and everyone wants to own more of the trip", he said, citing a move in recent weeks for accommodation provider AirBnB to offer city tour services.

Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair's chief marketing officer, claimed the service will be "a great success" and said the company won't be charging commission to boost sales.

Mr Jacobs told a press conference in London: "If you're looking at a package holiday on Ryanair Holidays you will see that typically our customers will save at least £40 on every single seat that they're booking".

Ryanair is getting its feet wet in the packaged holiday game, positioning itself as a one-stop shop for all travel-related services.

"If you take those flight savings that you make versus any other airline and apply those to a package holiday, a mum, dad and two kids will save at least 10pc on a package holiday".

These are being positioned as both packages (all ATOL-bonded and insured) for long-stay holidays and city breaks. Rival airline EasyJet launched its own EasyJet Holidays site back in 2011, and expanded it across Europe in 2014.

"We are very satisfied with the result - a usable interface with a wide range of hotels and vacation products to be booked seamlessly with the flight, under one price and which is 100 per cent customisable by each customer".

Ryanair has been seeking to remould itself from an airline to a broader digital business.

Besides package holidays, the airline is also planning eventually to offer concert and sports tickets as well as other travel services in the coming years.
