Philippe Coutinho Out Six Weeks With Ligament Damage

Speaking about Coutinho's injury, Klopp insisted Liverpool would have to cope.

The Brazilian playmaker underwent a scan on Monday after suffering the blow during the Reds' 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is still waiting for an update on the extent of Philippe Coutinho's ankle injury, but hinted he is fearing bad news.

Liverpool's improved form has seen them score the most number of goals in this year's EPL so far, finding the net 32 times in 13 matches for a goal difference of 18.

The42 is on Instagram! If I have no idea what it is then I can't imagine how long it will be. "This time, because we are better, we have forced them into situations like this".

Klopp, who is also without Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge and possibly Roberto Firmino against Garry Monk's side because of injury, said: "Phil Coutinho is a really good football player and if we can't use him for the next few days or weeks then every team in the world would feel that". As good as he is, he can not decide games by himself, even when it looks sometimes like this. "We spoke about a camp, we organised a camp for the summer and all that stuff", he explained.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet says the club's squad will work hard to cover for the loss of Philippe Coutinho.

I could not fault Sunderland for effort, they gave everything and were always in the game right up until injury time when James Milner's penalty killed us off.

"So in all this time we do different things and a few of these things is to watch the market, watch what happens around, scouting, look at players, promising players from leagues you can not watch too often".

'Phil Coutinho is a really good football player.

He joked: "What can I say so that it isn't the biggest thing in the papers tomorrow? There are very good teams at the top so we need to focus and keep on going".

Speaking about the situation of Coutinho in the press conference today prior to their game against Leeds United in EFL cup Jurgen Klopp has said he is optimistic of the situation at hand and hopes the midfielder will be fine soon.

"They are all quality players and of course we miss them but we don't look for excuses". They won 6-1 here the other week [against Watford] so we didn't want to come here and get rolled over that easy.

"I think Liverpool's XI, playing week in week out, can match up to nearly any team in the league [but] have they got the squad the other sides have got?"
