Chelsea rout Everton, move to top of Premier League table

Chelsea's Eden Hazard has a shot on goal blocked by Everton's goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg during the English Premier League soccer match between Chelsea and Everton at Stamford Bridge stadium in London, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.

Let's start with something small and fun.

The game ended with a final score of 5-0 to the Blues, but in truth, it could have been 7 or 8.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea produced one of their most scintillating performances in recent memory as the 2014-15 champions made it five straight wins without conceding a goal.

"It's important now if you look at the table you can see we are top but tomorrow that can change".

Palace thought they'd pinched a draw when Christian Benteke levelled after going 2-0 down early on but Barnes won it for a delighted Burnley manager Sean Dyche. It's simply not fair to have eyes in the back of one's head, Eden.

The second half kicked off in the same way, with Costa adding a third goal for Chelsea in the 46th minute. Pedro then beats both for space before inspiring Costa to do his own turn.

GETTYChelsea boss Antonio Conte has seen great positive change since his team's switch to a 3-4-3 system I was anxious because we conceded a lot of goals in every game and conceded many chances and for this reason we changed it.

"They look very hungry every game and if they keep going they will fight for the title".

"I never saw a team play like that in this system", he said.

"I'm very pleased because today there was a fantastic atmosphere with our supporters". "Week by week I feel we have improved, it is just a case of luck".

Chelsea have emerged as the Premier League's form team since Conte's decision to switch to 3-4-3 at half-time of a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in late September, scoring 16 goals and conceding none to record five consecutive victories. "The movement of Pedro, Hazard, Costa is hard".

"We created enough chances, we attacked really well and we controlled the counterattacks but when you arrive in the last minutes just 1-0, everything can happen", City manager Pep Guardiola said.

"I wouldn't break that back three up [to move someone into Moses' spot] when you have it right", the former defender said on Chelsea TV. "This system is very hard to play against, and the movement of Hazard, Pedro and Costa, is hard. The system can be similar but, for sure, the ideas are different defensively and offensively".
