Evan McMullin At Double Digits in New Idaho Poll

The former GOP House policy adviser and Central Intelligence Agency operative said the campaign has over 500 volunteers in the state who will be going door-to-door. Polls that ask voters about him the same way they ask about the better-known candidates are scarcer still. Eastern time on October 24, our polls-only model gave McMullin a 13.9 percent chance of winning Utah, and the now-cast gave him a 22.5 percent chance.

Independent candidate Evan McMullin, a former Central Intelligence Agency operative and House Republican staff member, has steadily climbed in the polls in Utah, a state with a heavy conservative Mormon tilt where Trump's brash style of campaigning has worn thin.

Rasmussen Reports polled 750 likely voters. Johnson, a friend of McMullin's, was used as a placeholder when the candidate was applying for ballot access. Anger and accusations were coming at Clinton and Trump from all angles, and the Republican was hitting all the wrong notes with the "socially liberal, fiscal conservative" crowd. 11, according to FiveThirtyEight.

However, Lyons did not rate McMullin's chances of carrying Utah on Election Day very high, at about 30 percent. He announced his candidacy-which was apparently news to his former employers in the House Republican Conference-on August 8th, after the filing deadlines to appear on the ballot in 26 states. His running mate is Mindy Finn, a Republican strategist and businesswoman. Libertarian Gary Johnson is at 7.5 percent.

McMullin acknowledged that electing a president who had won just a handful of states would not be the preferred method but that his campaign was working within the system prescribed by the Constitution. Is Hannity losing it, or is he right about the importance of this election?

Donald looks at the Statue of Liberty and see’s a 4…maybe a 5 if she loses the torch’ Hillary roasts Trump
Donald looks at the Statue of Liberty and see’s a 4…maybe a 5 if she loses the torch’ Hillary roasts Trump

That statement could be a resounding one.

Hannity, who became so angry he had to hit his "dump button" and censor himself at one point, said while Trump isn't "freaking flawless", he was still the better choice and would win if all the "geniuses" who are voting on principle would vote instead for the party nominee. That would make him the first such candidate to win an electoral vote on a platform that did not aggressively endorse segregation since Teddy Roosevelt in 1912.

But who will win Utah? Our model already excludes Utah polling that doesn't poll McMullin at all, and that will remain our official approach. Those who see his campaign as more than a protest are pinning their hopes on 2016 being the most weird election year in US history, and can they be blamed for thinking it just might be? Just two weeks from the election, polling shows McMullin either leading or within the margin of error in Utah.

44 percent of Republicans think Clinton will get the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House.

Asked about Republican U.S. House candidate Liz Cheney's sustained support for Trump, McMullin said her support was incompatible with being a true conservative.
