Henson described Fraggle Rock as "a high-energy, raucous musical romp".

"HBO was the initial home for the United States premiere of Fraggle Rock in 1983 and it's fitting that the network premieres this beautifully remastered version of the series", says Richard Goldsmith, executive vice-president of global distribution for the Jim Henson Co.

"Fraggle Rock stars a cast of puppet creatures called Fraggles, quirky cave-dwellers who live in an underground world alongside their industrious green neighbors, the Doozers, and a family of enormous Gorgs", The Jim Henson Company announced in a statement.

"HBO was the initial home for the USA premiere of Fraggle Rock in 1983, and it's fitting that the network premieres this beautifully remastered version of the series", said Goldsmith. It depicts the lives and conflicts of a society of tiny subterranean creatures known as "fraggles", including the daily misadventures of beloved characters such as Gobo, Red, Mokey, Wembly and Boober.

In this new remastered show, we'll expect to see the zany Fraggles as they work besides the hardworking Doozers. Their music touches the hearts of kids and young at heart, playing all kinds of genres from folk, blues, gospel, country and rock and incorporating the values of camaraderie, unity, discipline, flexibility and care for the planet.

The series ran for 96 episodes from 1983 to 1987.

The HD version of Fraggle Rock will air on the premium U.S. cablenet at the end of this year, while the distribution arm of TJHC will be shopping the 96 episodes at the Mipcom market in Cannes next week.

Look for "Fraggle Rock" on all of HBO's broadcast channels as well as HBO Go and HBO Now.
